We are a brand deeply connected to its name. We proudly offer products that are authentically made in Kenya. Our current collection includes beautifully beaded belts, dog collars, dog leads, bags, and keychains, each handcrafted with care and cultural significance.

At the heart of our mission is a commitment to supporting small, local businesses across Kenya. We source our products directly from skilled artisans, many of whom are women, whose craftsmanship reflects generations of tradition, creativity, and resilience.

Every piece tells a story, not only of vibrant Kenyan heritage, but also of the hands that carefully stitch each bead with pride, purpose and dedication.

As we grow and establish a stronger presence in global markets, we aim to expand our product range while continuing to empower and uplift the communities we work with.

At Origins of Kenyan, we believe in ethical trade, cultural celebration, and creating opportunities through every item we share with the world.

About us:

The founder

George Mattock

In 2023, at just 17 years old, I started Origins of Kenya with a simple idea and a few handcrafted products. During a visit back home to Kenya, I was inspired by the incredible artistry of beaded leather belts and dog collars made by local artisans whilst visiting a Maasai village. I brought a few back and sold them to teachers and friends at school in the UK. The response was immediate and people were captivated by the craftsmanship and style of each piece.

That experience opened my eyes to the potential of something greater. I saw an opportunity not just to build a business, but to create a platform that connects people around the world to the rich tradition of Kenyan beadwork. More importantly, I wanted to support the artisans and communities behind these products as I have rarely seen such skill in handcrafted traditions in todays world.
